About
Our Story
Jill Kombeitz is a Colorado native that began her skating career training in all four disciplines of figure skating (Figures, Freestyle, Ice Dancing and Pairs Skating). She ultimately fell in love with Pairs Skating because of its power and strength. A three-time United States Figure Skating Championship Pairs competitor and US Figure Skating Double Gold Medalist, Jill and her partner were also members of the US Olympic Training Center.
Throughout her competitive career, Jill trained with some of the most iconic coaches in both the US and Canada. During her time in Canada, Jill became a student of the game of hockey. A chance meeting with NHL power skating coach, Steffany Hanlen, and a rare mentorship opportunity changed everything. Power Skating for hockey players became Jill's new passion. Upon turning professional, Jill soon discovered she had a talent for sharing her joy and love for skating with others.
Over the course of her career as a coach, Jill has developed a unique curriculum that combines the fluidity and efficiency of a figure skating with the biomechanics of speed and power of hockey. Her detail oriented coaching style draws from a deep well of knowledge and experience. She prides herself on getting to know each of her players individually and tailors each to their specific needs.

PHILOSOPHY
Kombeitz Power skating gives players the opportunity to develop their skill level in a structured learning environment that constantly challenges while providing both encouragement and support. The connection to players and the ability to communicate effectively to every learning style is our priority.

Focusing on teaching the technical side of skating, including working on improving balanced edges and eliminating wasted energy through bad technique, Jill has great results improving her clients speed, agility and overall confidence level. Just as most pro, junior, and minor league hockey players now focus their off-ice training around core strength exercises, Jill works to eliminate the natural tendency of players to slouch or crouch over through a unique series of drills designed to increase a player's core strength and on ice stability. Quick feet, increased acceleration and an explosive and technically sound stride are also foundational to Kombeitz Power Skating.
